2026 Richard (Dick) Byerly & Dr. James (Doc) Temple Scholarships

Northumberland County Fair is proud to award two scholarships

  • Richard (Dick) Byerly Scholarship - $400

  • Dr. James (Doc) Temple Scholarship - $400

The scholarship recipients will be notified by October 31, 2026. This is a one-time payment issued to the scholarship recipient and one individual may only receive the scholarship two times from the Northumberland County Fair. The scholarships will be awarded in January 2027. The scholarship recipients are encouraged to be present to accept the scholarships as pictures would be appreciated.

Scholarship recipients will be determined based on review of application and response to questions. In the event of needing to break a tie to determine the scholarship recipients, prioritization may be given to a field of study which supports the continuation of future fairs as Richard & Dr. Temple were longtime members of the Northumberland County Fair Board. Richard’s passion was agriculture and he was an Ag teacher and FFA Advisor who proudly mentored countless students as they completed livestock production projects. Dr. Temple's passion was animals and veterinarian medicine. Both were founding members of the fair.

All ages are welcome to apply.
